Women and Drones and WeRobotics are delighted to announce a new collaboration aimed at promoting the development of local leadership, entrepreneurship and inclusivity in the drone industry and implementing ‘technology for good’ projects especially by the women in Africa.
While much has been happening on the African continent, with many women leading the way in the drone industry, there are still a great many untapped opportunities for women and girls to pursue rewarding careers and create businesses and for communities to benefit from the application of drone technology.
Both Women and Drones and WeRobotics share common goals in driving a greater involvement of girls and women in technology and inspire leadership especially in relation to the drone space. Through joint activities and initiatives, we are looking to reach a wider audience across Africa and, in turn, facilitate employment, empowerment and positive social impact.
“While many talented women already lead impactful social drone applications and trainings in their countries and local communities, joining forces between Women and Drones’ African chapter, the 15+ Flying Labs in Africa and WeRobotics will further strengthen drone capacity on the continent and create new opportunities”, says Sonja Betschart, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of WeRobotics.
‘We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with WeRobotics. Our joint efforts will strengthen our ability to fuel the growth of women in the African Drone Industry,’ explained Women and Drones CEO and founder, Sharon Rossmark
Louise Jupp, an advisor to Women and Drones based in South Africa, has been spearheading the first international chapter for Women and Drones specifically targeting Africa, since February 2021. Louise is looking forward to the new partnership with WeRobotics bringing more opportunity to inspire girls and women to become a part of or to benefit directly from this exciting and innovative industry.
