Foldable, Compact sUAS for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions
Sarasota, Florida, April 29, 2019 – Lumenier, a global leader in small unmanned aircraft systems (drones) and unmanned ground vehicles for both defense and commercial applications, today announced it received a 15-month, Other Transaction Award (OTA) for prototype sUAS, and if deemed successful, a potential follow-on large production award.
This project is in support of the Defensive Innovation Unit (DIU) mission to enable access to commercially-derived, potentially disruptive capabilities that can meet requirements across the entire DoD Enterprise.
“Small, compact drones are able to inexpensively and safely assess a situation before putting U.S. troops’ lives at risk.” said Tim Nilson, Founder and CEO of Lumenier Holdco LLC. “With sensors and cameras on a small drone, we can help servicemen have eyes on an unfolding situation to make a more informed decision, among other uses.”
Lumenier’s family of drones were first used in the high-end hobbyist industry several years ago for aerobatic and freestyle First Person View (FPV) flying as well as drone racing. Lumenier began to build high-performance drone components, such as brushless motors, propellers, airframes, antennas and other electronics, to meet the demands of the best drone pilots in the world.
Lumenier is now leveraging this expertise to function as a lead systems integrator, rapidly developing custom drone solutions for commercial and tactical needs
